Billy Elliot the Musical Live
Re: Billy Elliot the Musical Live
What are the chances that this will find it's way to TV "pay per view" or even a DVD ???
Re: Billy Elliot the Musical Live
Zero, I'd say.

The Broadway World article about it contains the video trailer that Florian mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, if anyone is interested...

Playbill's article about this event contains statements about it by Stephen Daldry, Lee Hall and Elton John:

Re: Billy Elliot the Musical Live
I have just received announcements from Odeon and Showcase Cinemas about this event:
http://www.odeon.co.uk/films/billy_elli ... ive/15294/
http://www.showcasecinemas.co.uk/events ... ial-encore
The Odeon announcement lists locations and times. My local cinema (Bournemouth) will show it twice that day: 2.00 and 7.00 p.m. (I assume it will be recorded for rebroadcast). I think it will be the same at all Odeon cinemas.

Here is the direct Youtube link to the trailer, so you don't have to sit through all of the Broadway World ads. It looks like the same footage we have seen many times before in BETM promos.

Even though it's the same footage for the trailer, I really do hope they make every effort to capture the show with some of the unique camera angles and positions they used in these clips!

If you have a Cinemark Theater in your city, there's a decent chance it could be shown there. The Cinemark Theaters here in Kansas City often show the live performance of various London stage shows (usually something like "King Lear" or "Macbeth") so it would be logical to think that they might broadcast the "Billy Elliot" performance as well.
I'm surprised to see that the show they're broadcasting will be a Sunday afternoon show in London. I had assumed it would be a Sunday evening performance, which would enable it to be shown at roughly 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. around Europe, and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the U.S. (Eastern Standard Time). That way the performance would truly be live and not a rebroadcast, which is what they apparently will have to do to avoid a morning broadcast in the U.S.

Re: Billy Elliot the Musical Live
From here to eternity is getting 3 showings in oct...I'd think Billy could at least get 1. And I think most Fathom event get shown as Live defined as filmed Live as opposed to simulcast. There were slight glitches in Warhorse and I didn't even see that at the first showing might be a good idea to see t later and not suffer any tech glitches from hell..
