Brian Padgett (cast member) has posted this excellent photo album on Facebook titled "From the Mines: Mounting Billy Elliot at Maltz Jupiter Theatre!" It gives a peek into the rehearsal process, from first read through, into tech and opening night. Most photos have captions (sometimes amusing) describing what we see. There are 125 photos, so plan to spend a bit of time looking though them all.

The Carbonell Awards honor excellence in theater in South Florida. Maltz Jupiter Theatre earned the most nominations of any theater, for their productions of Les Misérables (10 nominations) Billy Elliot (6 nominations) Glengarry Glen Ross (4 nominations) and The Wiz (1 nomination).

Maltz's BETM-related nominations include:
Best Production of a Musical,
Best Director/Musical (Matt Lenz),
Best Supporting Actress/Musical (Elizabeth Dimon, Grandma),
Musical Direction/Musical (Ana Flavia Zuim),
Choreography/Musical (Greg Graham),
Best Lighting Design/play or musical (Paul Miller).

The Maltz production of BETM has won three Carbonell Awards:

Elizabeth Dimon was named best supporting actress in a musical for her work as the supportive grandmother in the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s Billy Elliot, and choreographer Greg Graham won the Carbonell for the blend of ballet and Broadway he brought to the show. Best Musical Direction: Ana Flavia Zuim, Billy Elliot, Maltz).
