Looks like Kevin Haugen to me. 8-) If so, the image is an interesting choice.

I thought as much. It was probably purloined (for a fee) from some site such as Cloudfront.

I suppose it obviates any link with former or present US Billy Elliot shows.

On another note, this production will be new in the annals of BETM: the theatre is a theatre in the round.

The handout flyer for Billy Elliot at the NSMT describes the "Meet the Theatre" events on October 6 and 10 as "Free post-show audience discussion with the artists and theatre management". More info can be found on the NSMT Facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/events/1562610420687447/

Similarly for the "OUT at the North Shore" there is "An evening for the Gay & Lesbian Community including a free post-show reception with the cast at the Backstage Bistro." Also on Facebook:

"Billy Elliot" Needs Equity Male Singers Who Dance Well

Well, at least we know it is an Equity production!

Auditions are underway. Children were auditioned Friday and Saturday at the theatre; adult auditions are taking place in NYC this week.

The 'sides' and musical score extracts are interesting. I never knew Billy is scored to say 'Dad, I'm doing it whether you like it or not' in Electricity.

Hmm. To the untrained eye, the requirements for Billy (and Michael) are light on requirements for dance abilities. As compared to, say, Drury Lane: http://www.theatreinchicago.com/auditio ... ionID=3993

Between this and the relatively small stage - roughly a 30 foot diameter circle - it suggests this is a production that will focus on the story and less on elaborate dancing by the youngsters. But I will be happy to be wrong on this and be pleasantly surprised by Adam Pelty's creative genius. :)

I am almost positive Billy will not fly at NSMT. Much of the stage lighting is right there overhanging the stage as well as some parts of the sets. There may be room to elevate Billy, but it's hard to see how to get proper wiring mechanisms without interfering with the paraphernalia mentioned. On the other hand, it was announced that Mary Poppins is coming to NSMT next year, so maybe they will figure out some way to service both productions with flying capability.

Here is some additional information about the theatre for those still selecting seats. With reference to the seating chart: http://www.nsmt.org/index.php?option=co ... Itemid=753
Most of the entrances and exits by the cast are via the 6 aisles around the theatre. A few are by the lift in the center of the stage and lastly, there is the VOM (see http://dictionary.tdf.org/voms/ Any seats adjacent to these paths have potential for direct interaction with the cast. Also the portion of Section A that is accessed by Door 9 represents a small area where typically some bits of the performance will occur. So choose your seats carefully. ;)

One thing for certain, given the success of "Dig deep for the miners!" at Drury Lane, the NSMT seems like an ideal place to continue the fundraising!

PETER PAN with Cathy Rigby was done at North Shore Music Theater. And they do A CHRISTMAS CAROL every year with quite a bit of flying.

I do know for a fact that a Billy has been cast, and not sure if they're casting more than one (I'd assume so!) I'm not at liberty to say (not my big news to share), but I believe many of you may recognize him from a previous regional production. :D

Well, it's officially official now, Nic Dantes from the Drury Lane production will be playing the lead role again at North Shore. And we love that familiar Billy picture! Congrats to the fabulous Mr. Dantes!! :D
