OH WOW!
Just wow!
Am I allowed to say that I think this production is even better than the London one?!
Absolutely fantastic! Billy (the one with the hair!) was great - as was Michael - as was in fact ALL the cast and orchestra. What a brilliant theatre too.
OK I didn't understand a word that was being said but knew the gist of the story so not a big issue and the songs/music were great.
(I'm rubbish at writing reviews!)

The one with the hair? Which one do you mean? As far as I know they all have hair.

BTW although I don't speak any Dutch whatsoever I speak French and German and it's amazing how much I understood. Oh and the language is awesome - definitely going to try and learn some.

Yes, you can compare productions. Basically, what you are saying is that you like the Dutch version better.simonp wrote:OH WOW!

We just ask members not to compare Billys (or child cast members in general) on a good/better/best basis. As long as you stay away from ranking the kids and/or their performances against each other, there's no problem.

What exactly did you like better, simon? Hopefully I will be able to check if you're right this summer! I wanna book a Den-Haag-Billy-holiday for may or june. It's not possible yet, though... but there are auditions, so I think it's safe to say they won't cancel it, isn't it?

It's safe to say that it will continue running for at least a few months longer, since the next generation Billy's is supposed to debut in/around May/June.jtsw1 wrote:What exactly did you like better, simon? Is there any theatre organization in the Netherlands (like we have the Broadway Theater League here in the US) that reports attendance of shows? Just wondered how they are doing at the box office.onceagain wrote:It's safe to say that it will continue running for at least a few months longer, since the next generation Billy's is supposed to debut in/around May/June.

I don't think there is, but I'm not sure. What I can say is that the first few weeks the sales were disappointing (they closed the top ring almost every performance). I have heard though that sales have been better the past few weeks. It will be interesting to see how long the show will run.porschesrule wrote:Is there any theatre organization in the Netherlands (like we have the Broadway Theater League here in the US) that reports attendance of shows? The whole production was just as good as or better than the original London one (which I must admit I've only seen two or three times). On the whole, it's pretty much the same but with just a few small differences which I thought were better (actually can't remember many of them now!!)
Of course, I can't comment on the dialogue!

Interesting - it looked almost full when I saw it on the Sunday matinee but lots of empty seats on the Tuesday evening.onceagain wrote:I don't think there is, but I'm not sure. It must be a huge financial investment putting on the show - can't see it closing any time soon.
