A Greek production of BETM is planned for October, according to eKefalonia. Auditions will be held in Pallas in June:
The Athenian Theater will present the blockbuster " Billy Elliot The Musical "of Lee Hall with music by Elton John and directed by Dimitris Lignadis October in Pallas and looking the small but ... huge protagonist!
The story of an eleven year old boy who seeks to make his dreams a reality and the world around him collapses. 1984 Margaret Thatcher closed the mines and miners begin indefinite strike. Little Billy runs away from boxing lesson to find out randomly in a passion ballet hall for dancing, a passion that will electrify his family, the whole community and will change his life forever.
Open call for the Greek Billy Elliot
The Saturday 6/6 and Sunday 7/6 and Saturday 13/6 and Sunday 14/6 from 10 am to 10 pm , Dimitris Lignadis and his colleagues will be in Pallas to choose the best of the best from all over Greece.
Find boys aged 10-14 years dance, sing and want to try their strengths, they can come with their parents having a brief biography and a photo.

As yet, there is no mention of this on MTI's site. There is a licence granted for a two year period, from December 2015, to 'The Artbassador' Athens Greece Dec. 30th 2015 until Dec 30th 2017, which I posted on the European master list a while back. Whether these correspond, I am not sure at this time.

This article says the premier will be this October.
As the auditions will be held later this month, there won't be much time for training and rehearsals.

Is it me or is this crying out for some directorial script massaging to link to current day events..?
Solidarity is even a reasonable rhyme for 'anti-austerity'.....
..I'll leave the Greek speakers to correct me.

There is a link to Ticket365, which I assume will sell tickets. I did not try it out, but what popped up did not show anything to do with BETM.
I am still uncertain whether this show has an MTI license.
