Daichi Ikarashi won the Hope Award at the YAGP last year and 1st place in the YAGP semifinal in Japan recently. I would think that he is a favorite to win his age group again this year in NYC.

As part of the press release announcing the itinerary of the UK/Ireland tour yesterday, was this statement:

"Further international productions are planned including the first Japanese production in 2017."

A website, Twitter account and Facebook page have now been established for BETM Japan.

According to announcements on those pages (and with the help of a Google translation, although using it some is not clear), the show appears to be planned for Tokyo in the summer of 2017, with auditions to be held in the spring of 2016. Perhaps if there are members of the forum that speak Japanese this can be confirmed.
