Matilda The Musical will open a new production in Toronto July 5, 2016, with the same creative team as the productions in London, Broadway, and on tour. Casting has been announced.

Hannah Levinson, Jaime MacLean and Jenna Weir will share the role of ‘Matilda,’
Paula Brancati as ‘Miss Honey,'
Dan Chameroy as ‘Miss Trunchbull,’
Keisha T. Fraser as 'Mrs. Phelps,’
Brandon McGibbon as ‘Mr. Wormwood,’
Darcy Stewart as ‘Mrs. Wormwood.’

Additional casting in the link below. The one name I recognize in the ensemble is Natalie Wisdom, formerly of the BETM Broadway ensemble, and most recently the touring Matilda ensemble.

"The children ensemble of MATILDA THE MUSICAL will feature Aiden Bushey, Will Coombs, Drew Davis, Aiden Glenn, Kendyl Ito, Abigail Nicholson, Riley O’Donnell, Tanner Quirk, Molly Richardson and Isabella Stuebing"

taken from the link given above.

thought I would point out Nigel will be played by Will Coombs (continuing on from the US Tour)
below is his page on the Matilda tour website - he's a Billy kid!
WILL COOMBS - NIGEL
Will is ecstatic to make his National Tour Debut in Matilda! Past shows include: Billy Elliot at North Carolina Theatre and A Christmas Carol at Theatre In The Park. Love to Mom, Dad, family, friends, Stage Door Dance and all who have supported me on this amazing journey. Dreams do come true!

This is very interesting: The US tour has engagements from now until June 26. Then the Toronto production starts July 5 with a few of the same cast. Toronto is currently selling tickets until September 4. Broadway closes January 1, 2017. The US tour starts up again January 17.

It seems reasonable that Toronto would borrow the US tour sets. If Toronto was running through the fall, it would be like the US tour just had a sit-down in Toronto with some cast changes. Is the US tour going on hiatus just so that Toronto can borrow the sets?

Interesting observation, Liam. After looking closer at the cast lists from the tour and Toronto, I see matches in 8 of the adult ensemble, plus Will Coombs of the children's ensemble. It does sound like they might move a portion of the tour to Toronto for the summer, at least the sets plus part of the cast.

Matilda Toronto is now booking until January 8, which they have billed as the "final extension". I suppose it is final because they need the sets for the US tour to continue.

I saw the show yesterday during my visit to Toronto. Jaime MacLean was a fine Matilda. Dan Chameroy was the best Trunchbull of the five I have seen (including Broadway and London).
