I have just received a notice that BETM will no longer be played in Perth or Brisbane in 2020
This has caused panic with friends that planned to see this new tour.
Any info please post here

All that is known at this point is that information about the tour stops originally scheduled for Perth and Brisbane have been removed from the production's website:

https://billyelliotthemusical.com.au/

No official announcement has been made by the production company about their removal. However, since you can't order tickets for those two stops, it's probably safe to assume they've dropped those two tour stops from their schedule. Anything beyond this is pure speculation as to why.

I was going to be overseas and had to cut the trip short to see the Melbourne show
I booked for 2 shows on 8 March incl the final show.

I just checked the BETM website and extra bookings have beeen inserted for Melbourne, with 6 shows a week until 19 April.

As there are just mon/tues free with 2 shows on wed, it cannot possibly be a move to Sydney

Extremely poor handling by the Australian producers.

Poor wording in the above posting
The Melbourne extension is for 6 weeks ,with 8 shows per week, closed mon/tues.

Preparing to open in Melbourne, the Australian Tour Billys are interviewed in this article in the Herald Sun:

In an article in the Heraldsun today 22 Feb, one of the cast let slip that this show ends the run in April

No other publicity for the show, as yet

I noted above that the Melbourne season was extended for 6 weeks . Unless I hear to the contrary, I guess the Australian season finishes
I regret this as the previous season was for packed houses 12 months Sydney and 6 months in Melbourne

The runs were based on other shows bookings, and could not be extended.

James Liotta posted a recent Media Call at Regent Theatre, Melbourne. It gives a good idea of this production:

According to the official website,

"Billy Elliot the Musical played its final performance at the Regent Theatre on Sunday 15 March. The production was due to play until April 19th but due to these unprecedented developments the production had no other option."
