As stated Billy Elliot at the Neptune Theater in Halifax Nova Scotia will be rescheduled for later in the year. No dates have been selected so far. While Neptune has outright cancelled other shows, it's a testament to BETM that they've selected this show to go on.

I think this is a great show to cheer people up after this nightmare we are all living through.

I still plan on going if the show goes on and I'm allowed into Canada.

Neptune announcement:

COVID-19 Update
March 17, 2020 Update

As we continue to monitor the updates and advice from our government and public health authorities, and given the rapidly changing developments regarding COVID-19, we have made the decision to reschedule Billy Elliot The Musical. While this decision comes at a time of uncertainty for all, we take the safety and health of our staff, artists, patrons and community very seriously. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines put forth by public health officials.

We are currently working to determine our new dates to bring this magical show to the Neptune stage.

Please stay tuned for an announcement with new dates of Billy Elliot The Musical. All purchases for the original run (April14 – June 7, 2020) will be honored for the rescheduled dates.

If the new dates presented do not work for you, at that time we will ask you to consider the following:

As a not-for-profit theatre, we ask for your support during this time of crisis and that you consider donating the value of your ticket(s)back to the theatre for a charitable donation receipt.

We will issue a gift certificate of the same value as your tickets which will not expire and will be valid on any upcoming Neptune show.

With the increased volume of inquiries coming through at this time, we ask our patrons to be patient and understanding as we respond to all inquiries and requests. A representative will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please monitor our website and social media channels for further updates. We will be in touch with the new performance dates soon.

The Neptune Theatre has gone before Halifax's Audit and Finance Standing Committee on February 11, asking the city for $100,000 to help Neptune reopen to the public. Lisa Bugden, the theatre’s general manager, told the committee Neptune has lost $4-million since the pandemic first shut them down in March of 2020. That represents a revenue drop of about 90 percent.

And although we won’t know what shows will be on the bill for 2022’s Act Two until later in the fall, there’s still hope that one of them will be the blockbuster musical Billy Elliot, which was getting set to go on the Neptune stage when COVID-19 brought the 2019-20 season to an abrupt halt, halfway through the comedy Calendar Girls.

“We know we’re going to get to Billy Elliot, there’s no way we won’t be tackling that show,” says Webb. “There are people who’ve kindly held on to their tickets, so we will make sure that they will get the show that they want to see.

“When it comes depends on the relaxing of restrictions. It’s a big show, bigger than any of the big shows that we normally do, we already knew that when we took it on nearly two years ago. It’s 33 people on stage, that’s not a show we can do in Act One, fingers crossed we get to it very soon after that.”
