In addition to being a great actress and singer, it turns out Kate is also a playwright. Her play The Last Wife is a retelling of the story of Katherine Parr, the sixth and last wife of Henry VIII. It received its premier at the Stratford Festival in 2015 to strong reviews, a couple of which are linked below. I just learned of this now when I saw it among a listing of plays to be staged here in Rochester this fall.

Kate has been associated with the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario for many years, both on stage and off. I received my season brochure for 2020 and am happy to see she will star as Rose in their production of "Gypsy." The production runs April 8 - October 11, 2020.
