Yes, I got a bit of sticker shock when I looked at them. :o

I live close enough to drive to Richmond without any problem, but for convenience sake I was thinking to rent a hotel room to do a Billython. However, now I am rethinking my plan a bit. Driving and parking would probably cost less than staying over. But I will have to think it through.

Just a note: The "Zones" listed do not necessarily cover what you think they do, so there actually are some $82 seats in the B sections of the orchestra in that price range. You have to click on a Zone to find out what sections and rows are included.

That is a bit surprising. While, yes, it's a short tour stop, the Landmark Theater has a very large auditorium, seating 3,600. That's a lot of seats to fill at those prices!

Folks...

The site you've found is a third-party ticket reseller, NOT the official Landmark Theater page. That's why the prices are so outrageous.

Here is the official site for the Landmark Theater's Billy Elliot presentation. As you can see, individual tickets aren't on sale yet:

http://www.landmarktheater.net/events/d ... he-musical

I phoned the Landmark box office. The fellow who answered said individual tickets wil likely go on sale just after Thanksgiving or early December. He recommends people signup for email alerts. He was also well aware of the richmond-theater site. He says a number of people have been fooled.

Oops. I had checked the Landmark's page several times before to see if tickets were on sale yet (and I even have an email alert set up, I believe) , but when this came up today I didn't realize that I hadn't actually linked to it from the Landmark's own page. So thanks for pointing that out. The moral is that it pays to be careful and double check what you're looking at.

Now maybe I can look at that hotel room after all.

Does this mean you are planning to come to Richmond, Tom?

I may pay a visit to Richmond. Always wanted to see it. Not sure yet. I have relatives in Virginia who are always pestering me to visit, but they're closer to Washington and I see from Google maps that they live more than 100 miles from Richmond. So I'm not sure. If I end up going to Ottawa in early January, I won't do another Billython just a month later.

Tickets for Richmond are now available through Broadway in Richmond, which is linked directly from the Landmark Theater site. Prices range from $43 to $73, not counting the ticketing and service fees. Here's the link to the Landmark site:

I have just booked seats for all five shows. Interestingly, there were excellent single seats available in the orchestra. I even got Row A in the center for Opening Night on Friday, February 1! However, when I searched for two seats together for the Saturday matinee, as opposed to a single seat, the seats I got were not nearly as good. This seems to be the opposite of what usually happens, where singleton seats not as good as when you book two seats together.
